This year’s model: Metadata models and representations
March 6, 2014
We are all familiar with ONIX – highly-structured XML – and this is in effect one representation of an underlying data model. At Tech Forum 2013, Graham showed another representation of the same model is possible, using RDF/XML and linked data. This year, he’ll introduce the idea of other possibilities – for example JSON, other forms of RDF, and maybe also microformats, and discuss why there's no one right expression – each of these has its place, and you need to be able to choose the right representation for the right purpose. The critical point is the semantic compatibility rather than the syntax of the expression.
