The Accessible eBooks from Literary Presses project has seen 23 independent publishers working on over 600 Canadian titles to improve access for those needing or wanting accessibility features. Many of these titles are more challenging literary forms: poetry, drama, graphic novels, and picture books, in addition to selected fiction and non-fiction titles. The Literary Press Group of Canada (LPG) undertook this large-scale eBook conversion and marketing project in 2021, in partnership with eBOUND Canada and with the support of Canada Book Fund. Their goal was to support member publishers no matter their level of EPUB experience and to create a collection of newly accessible Canadian literature — eBooks for Everyone, now available online. Join LPG project manager Tan Light, eBOUND Technology and Marketing Specialist Sahiba Shah, and representatives from two of the participating publishers — Sarah Jensen from Cormorant Books and Ashley Fortier from Metonymy Press — as they discuss the process, share some of the challenges they met along the way, as well as the breakthroughs and lessons learned.
